The characters in the play are bugs. V. Mayakovsky. Bug. The text of the work. Demonstration of a man from the past

"Bug"

Enchanting comedy by V.V. Mayakovsky's "Bedbug" is dedicated to one of the central themes of his mature work - criticism of the bourgeoisie, exposing its vile essence. The list of actors in the work is indicative in this regard. The main character has two names. One mundane, ordinary (Prisypkin). And the other is refined, refined (Pierre Skripkin).

Women's images are contrasted according to this principle: the simple and modest name of Zoya Berezkina and refined foreign ones (Elsevira Davidovna, Rosalia Pavlovna).

From the compositional point of view, the beginning of the work is interesting, where the technique of polyphony is used: the advertising verses performed by the sellers recreate the motley atmosphere of the so-called NEP era (new economic policy of the 20s of the XX century), the essence of which was that the peasants were allowed to sell surplus agricultural products. Individual businesses were leased out. Workshops were opened.

Replicas of sellers create an atmosphere of philistinism in the artistic space of the work. The vocabulary deliberately combines everyday and political aspects (“battles, knives and languages for discussions”, “republican herrings”). What is worth only one remark of Bayan: “Why do you need to merge with the petty-bourgeois elements and buy herring in such a debatable manner?”. The worthlessness and absurdity of this whole action is emphasized by a vivid satirical image, repeated several times in the text: "Bras with fur." The comic effect is enhanced by the fact that Prisypkin calls them "aristocratic bonnets."

Vulgarity in this image is combined with ignorance. When Bayan invites Pierre to play an epithalame about the god Hymen, he asks in response: “What are you talking about? What else are the Himalayas?

Prisypkin's petty-bourgeois psychology is indignantly criticized by his dormitory comrades. It's not that he buys himself a new tie, but that achieving an external gloss becomes an end in itself for him. At the same time, Prisypkin does not follow the elementary rules of hygiene. Instead of changing socks, he covers up the hole in them with an ink pencil.

The romantic beginning is adjacent in the text of the play, along with reduced images. “So, so, with a quiet step, as if on a moonlit night, in dreams and melancholy, you are returning from the pub,” says Bayan.

The central plot-forming event in the play is the wedding of Prisypkin (Pierre Skripkin) with Elsevira. Vulgarity, window dressing, the desire of the heroes to keep pace with the era in everything are emphasized even in the remarks: "Pierre kisses sedately and with a sense of class dignity." State clichés sound m in the replicas of the characters. “With what capital steps we are moving forward along the path of our family construction!” Bayan exclaims. Such statements force us to correlate family history with the history of the country. The new economic policy, with the rampant philistinism that it introduced, is clearly not to the liking of the author of the play. It is no coincidence that a wedding ends in a fire. V.V. Mayakovsky sees no prospects in this policy. The author does not dream of such a bright future.

In constructing the plot of the play, V.V. Mayakovsky makes extensive use of science fiction. In the fifth act, an interesting image appears - the so-called institution of human resurrections. In it, Prisypkin is resurrected. The first thing the hero worries about, realizing that he has got into the future, is that for fifty years he has “not joined the trade union.”

During this time, values and habits in society have changed dramatically. Beer, for example, came to be called a poisonous mixture. The poet also satirically ridicules "attacks of acute love." Gone are the dances of a distant era. At the end of the play, Prisypkin ends up in the zoo along with the bug. Showing it to visitors, the director of the zoo explains: “There are two of them - different sizes, but the same in essence: these are the famous “clopus normalis” and ... “philistine vulgaris”. Noteworthy are the inscriptions on the cage: “Caution

Spitting!”, “Do not enter without a report!”, “Take care of your ears - it is expressed.”

The play "The Bedbug" angrily ridicules the townsfolk who seek to dress up in petty-bourgeois clothes. Thus, V.V. Mayakovsky entered the history of Russian literature not only as a poet, but also as a playwright. His small dramatic legacy made a significant contribution to the development of Russian satire.

Table on the right, table on the left. Drawings hanging from everywhere and scattered everywhere. Comrade Foskin is in the middle sealing the air with a blowtorch. Chudakov goes from lamp to lamp, reviewing the drawing.

Bicyclekin(running in). Does the vile Volga still flow into the Caspian Sea?

Chudakov(waving the drawing). Yes, but not for long now. Hours pawn and sell.

Bicyclekin. Good thing I haven't bought them yet.

Chudakov. Do not buy! Do not buy under any circumstances! Soon this ticking flat stupidity will become funnier than a torch on the Dneprostroy, more helpless than a bull in Avtodor.

Bicyclekin. Unasekomili, means, Switzerland?

Chudakov. Yes, do not click your tongue on today's petty political accounts! My idea is bigger. The Volga of human time, into which our birth threw us like logs into alloy, threw us to flounder and go with the flow, this Volga is now subordinate to us. I will make time stand still and run in any direction and at any speed. People will be able to climb out of the days, like passengers from trams and buses. With my car, you can stop a second of happiness and enjoy a month until you get bored. With my car, you can whirl the stretched, viscous years of grief, pull your head into your shoulders, and above you, without touching or injuring, a hundred times a minute a shell of the sun will rush by, ending black days. Look, the firework fantasies of Wales, the futuristic brain of Einstein, the bestial hibernation skills of bears and yogis - everything, everything is compressed, compressed and merged in this machine.

Bicyclekin. I understand almost nothing, and in any case I see nothing at all.

Chudakov. Yes, put on your glasses! You are blinded by these strips of platinum and crystal, this brilliance of radial plexuses. See? Do you see?..

Bicyclekin. Well, I see...

Chudakov. Look, did you notice these two rulers, horizontal and vertical, with divisions, like on a scale?

Bicyclekin. Well, I see...

Chudakov. With these rulers you measure the cube of the required space. Look, do you see that wheel regulator?

Bicyclekin. Well, I see...

Chudakov. With this key you isolate the included space and cut off from all the burdens all the flows of the earth's gravity, and with these strange levers you turn on the speed and direction of time.

Bicyclekin. Understand! Great! Extraordinary!!! This means that, for example, an all-Union congress is going to be held on the issue of calming the raised questions, and, of course, the floor is given for greetings from the State Academy of Scientific Arts to state comrade Kogan, and as soon as he begins: “Comrades, through the tentacles of world imperialism with a red thread a wave is passing ... ”- I fence him off from the presidium and start time at the speed of one and a half hundred minutes in a quarter of an hour. He sweats himself, greets, greets and sweats for an hour and a half, and the audience looks: the academician just gaped his mouth - and already deafening applause. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, lifted fresh asses from their chairs and let's go to work. So?

Chudakov. Fu, what a mess! Why are you giving me some Kogan? I explain to you this matter of universal relativity, the matter of translating the definition of time from a metaphysical substance, from noumenon into reality, subject to chemical and physical influence.

Bicyclekin. What am I saying? I say this: you build yourself a real station with full chemical and physical effects, and we will run wires from it, well, let's say, to all chicken incubators, in fifteen minutes we will grow a half-pood chicken, and then a plug under her wing, turn off the time - and sit, chicken, and wait until you are fried and eaten.

Chudakov. What incubators, what chickens?! I to you...

Bicyclekin. Yes, okay, okay, you think at least about elephants, at least about giraffes, if it’s humiliating for you to think about small cattle. And we ourselves will adapt all this to our gray chickens ...

Chudakov. Well, what a mess! I feel that you, with your practical materialism, will soon make a chicken out of me. As soon as I swing and want to fly - you pluck feathers out of me.

Bicyclekin. Okay, okay, don't get excited. And if I even plucked a pen from you, you'll excuse me, I'll put it back in for you. Fly, bet, fantasize, we are assistants to your enthusiasm, not a hindrance. Well, don't be mad, boy, start, spin your car. What to help something?

Chudakov. Attention! I will only touch the wheel, and time will rush and start to compress and change the space that we have enclosed in a cage of insulators. Now I beat off the bread from all the prophets, fortune-tellers and soothsayers.

Bicyclekin. Wait, Chudakov, let me stand here, maybe in five minutes I'll leave the Komsomol member and become some kind of bearded Marx. Or not, I will be an old Bolshevik with three hundred years of experience. I'll walk you through everything right away.

Chudakov (pulling, frightened). Beware, crazy! If in the coming years a steel truss of an underground road lays here, then, fitting your frail body into the space occupied by steel, you will instantly turn into tooth powder. And, perhaps, in the future, the cars will fall off the rails, but here, with an unprecedented time quake of a thousand points, the whole basement will turn to hell. Now it is dangerous to go there, we must wait for those coming from there. I turn slowly, slowly - in just a minute, five years ...

Foskin. Wait, comrade, wait a minute. You still have to spin the car. Do me a favor, stick my bond in your car - I don’t sell it for nothing - maybe it will win a hundred thousand in five minutes.

Bicyclekin. Guessed! Then the whole Narkomfin with Bryukhanov should be put there, otherwise you will win, but they still won’t believe you - they will ask for a table.

Chudakov. Well, I'm breaking through the door to the future for you, and you slipped into rubles ... Fu, historical materialists!

Foskin. Fool, I'm in a hurry to win for you. Do you have money for your experience?

Chudakov. Yes... Do you have money?

Bicyclekin. Money?

Knock on the door. Enter Ivan Ivanovich, Pont Kich, Mezalyansova and Momentalnikov.

Mezalyansova(Chudakov). Do you speak English? Ah, so Sprechen Z Deutsch? Parlay vu france, finally? Well, I knew it! It's very tiring. I am forced to make a tradition from ours to the worker-peasant. Monsieur Ivan Ivanovich, comrade Ivan Ivanovich! You, of course, know Ivan Ivanovich?

Ivan Ivanovich. Hello, hello, dear friend! Do not be shy! I show our achievements, as Alexei Maksimych likes to say. I myself sometimes ... but, you see, this load! We, workers and peasants, really, really need our own red Edison. Of course, the crisis of our growth, small shortcomings of the mechanism, the forest is cut down - the chips fly ... One more effort - and this will be outdated. Do you have a phone? Oh, you don't have a phone! Well, I'll tell Nikolai Ivanovich, he won't refuse. But if he refuses, you can go to Vladimir Panfilich himself, he, of course, will meet halfway. After all, even Semyon Semyonovich constantly tells me: “We need,” he says, “we, workers and peasants, need a red, our own, Soviet Edison.” Comrade Momentalnikov, we need to open a wide campaign.

Momentalnikov

Echelenza, order!

Our appetite is small.

Only ass-yes-yes-yes-give us a tribute, -

Everything will be done at the same time.

Mezalyansova. Monsieur Momentalnikov, comrade Momentalnikov! Employee! Companion! He sees - the Soviet government is coming, - he joined. He sees - we are going, - he went in. If he sees they are coming, he will leave.

Momentalnikov. Absolutely, absolutely right, employee! An employee of the pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary press. That's just the revolutionary I have, you know, somehow fell out. Whites here, reds there, greens here, Crimea, underground... I had to trade in a shop. Not mine, - father or even, it seems, just uncles. I myself am a conscientious worker. I have always said that it is better to die under a red banner than under a fence. Under this slogan, a large number of intellectuals of my kind can be united. Echelenza, command us - our appetite is small!

Pont Kitsch. Cough! Cough!

Mezalyansova. Sorry! Sorry! Mr. Pont Quiche, Mr. Pont Quiche. British Anglo-Saxon.

Ivan Ivanovich. Have you been to England? Ah, I was in England!.. Englishmen everywhere... I had just bought a cap in Liverpool and was looking around the house where Antidüring was born and lived. Surprisingly interesting! We need to open a wide campaign.

Mezalyansova. Mr. Pont Keach, a well-known, well-known philatelist both in London and the City. Philatelist (Skonapel, Markoljub - in Russian), and he is very, very interested in chemical plants, aviation and art in general. Very, very cultured and sociable person. Even a philanthropist. Sconapel... well, how can you translate this? He already looked at Moscow from the Izvestia skyscraper (Nakhrikhten), he was already with Anatol Vasilch, and now, he says, to you ... He is so cultured, sociable, he even told us your address.

Foskin. Nosed bastard: with a scent!

Mezalyansova. Plese sir!

Pont Kitsch. Ai Ivan roared at the door, and the animals had dinner. Ai went to the mannequin paradise, and the raccoon to Hindustan, peppered the invention of the beasts.

Mezalyansova. Mr. Pont Keech wants to say in his own language that in his foggy homeland everyone, from MacDonald to Churchill, is just like animals interested in your invention, and he is very, very asking ...

Chudakov. Well, of course, of course! My invention belongs to all mankind, and I, of course, right now ... I am very, very glad. (He takes the foreigner, who took out a notebook, shows and explains.) That's it. Yes ... yes ... yes ... There are two levers here, and on a parallel crystal measuring ruler ... Yes ... yes ... yes ... right here! And this is so ... Well, yes ...

Bicyclekin(taking Ivan Ivanovich away). Comrade, you need to help the guy. I went everywhere where “do not enter without a report”, and spent hours hanging around wherever “finished business ...” and so on, and almost spent the night under the sign “if you came to a busy person, then leave” - and to no avail. Because of the red tape and cowardice to allocate ten chervonets, perhaps a grandiose invention perishes. Comrade, you must, with your authority...

Ivan Ivanovich. Yes, it's terrible! They cut the forest - the chips fly. I'm going straight to the Main Directorate for approval right now. I'll tell Nikolai Ignatich right away... And if he refuses, I'll talk to Pavel Varfolomeich himself... Do you have a telephone? Oh, you don't have a phone! Small shortcomings of the mechanism ... Oh, what mechanisms in Switzerland! Have you been to Switzerland? I was in Switzerland. Everywhere...

"Bug"

The action of the play takes place in Tambov: the first three scenes - in 1929, the remaining six scenes - in 1979.

Former worker, former party member Ivan Prisypkin, who renamed himself Pierre Skripkin for euphony, is going to marry Elsevira Davidovna Renaissance, a hairdresser's daughter, a hairdresser's cashier and a manicurist. With his future mother-in-law Rozalia Pavlovna, who “needs a professional ticket at home,” Pierre Skripkin walks around the square in front of a huge department store, buying from lottoshniks everything, in his opinion, necessary for a future family life: a toy “dancing people from ballet studios”, a bra, taken by him for a cap for a possible future twins, etc. Oleg Bayan (former Bochkin), for fifteen rubles and a bottle of vodka, undertakes to organize a real red labor marriage for Prisypkin - a class, sublime, elegant and delightful celebration. Their conversation about the future wedding is heard by Zoya Berezkina, a worker, former lover of Prisypkin. In response to puzzled questions, Zoya Prisypkin explains that he loves another. Zoya is crying.

The inhabitants of the youth workers' hostel are discussing Prisypkin's marriage to the hairdresser's daughter and changing their surnames. Many condemn him, but some understand him - now is not 1919, people want to live for themselves. Bayan teaches Prisypkin good manners: how to dance the foxtrot (“do not move your lower bust”), how to scratch yourself while dancing, and also gives him other useful tips: do not wear two ties at the same time, do not wear a starched shirt, etc. Suddenly, the sound of a shot is heard - it was Zoya Berezkina who shot herself.

At the wedding of Pierre Skripkin and Elsevira Renaissance, Oleg Bayan makes a solemn speech, then plays the piano, everyone sings and drinks. The best man, defending the dignity of the newlywed, starts a quarrel after a quarrel, a fight breaks out, the stove overturns, a fire breaks out. Arriving firefighters are missing one person, the rest all die in the fire.

Fifty years later, at a depth of seven meters, a team digging a trench for the foundation discovers a frozen human figure covered with earth. The Institute of Human Resurrection reports that calluses have been found on the individual's hands, which in the past were a sign of working people. A vote is taken among all regions of the federation of the earth, a decision is made by a majority of votes: in the name of researching the labor skills of working humanity, the individual should be resurrected. This individual turns out to be Prisypkin. The entire world press enthusiastically reports about his upcoming resurrection. The news is reported by correspondents of Chukotskie Izvestia, Varshavskaya Komsomolskaya Pravda, Izvestia of the Chicago Council, Rimskaya Krasnaya Gazeta, Shanghai Poor and other newspapers. The defrosting is carried out by a professor assisted by Zoya Berezkina, whose suicide attempt failed fifty years ago. Prisypkin wakes up, a bug defrosted along with him crawls from his collar onto the wall. Finding out that he was in 1979, Prisypkin faints.

The reporter tells the listeners that in order to facilitate the transition period, doctors ordered Prisypkin to drink beer (“a mixture that is poisonous in large doses and disgusting in small ones”), and now five hundred and twenty workers of the medical laboratory who drank this potion are in hospitals. Among those who have heard enough of Prisypkin's romances, performed by him with a guitar, an epidemic of "falling in love" is spreading: they dance, mutter poetry, sigh, and so on. At this time, the crowd, led by the director of the zoological garden, catches a runaway bug - the rarest specimen of an insect that became extinct and most popular at the beginning of the century.

Under the supervision of a doctor in a clean room on the cleanest bed lies the dirtiest Prisypkin. He asks for a hangover and demands to "freeze him back". Zoya Berezkina brings several books at his request, but he does not find anything "for the soul": now only scientific and documentary books.

In the middle of the zoological garden, on a pedestal, is a draped cage, surrounded by musicians and a crowd of spectators. Foreign correspondents arrive, ancient old men and women, a column of children approaches with a song. The director of the zoo in his speech gently reproaches the professor, who unfrozen Prisypkin, for the fact that, guided by external signs, he mistakenly attributed him to "homo sapiens" and to his highest species - to the class of workers. In fact, the defrosted mammal is a humanoid simulator with an almost human appearance, responding to the announcement given by the director of the zoo: “Based on the principles of the zoo, I am looking for a living human body for constant biting and for the maintenance and development of a freshly acquired insect in its usual, normal conditions.” Now they are placed in one cage - "clopus normalis" and "philistines vulgarly. Prisypkin in the cage sings. The director, wearing gloves and armed with pistols, leads Prisypkin to the podium. He suddenly sees spectators sitting in the hall and shouts: “Citizens! Brothers! Their! Native! When were you all thawed out? Why am I alone in a cage? Why am I suffering? Prisypkin is taken away, the cage is pulled.

Location - Tambov. The first three paintings are 1929, the other six are 1979. Once the hero was a working party member and bore the name Ivan Prisypkin. Now he has renamed himself Pyra Skripkina and wants to marry a manicurist and a cashier at a hairdressing salon, Elsevira Davidovna Renaissance. She is a manicurist and a cashier at a hair salon. Former Bochkin, now Oleg Bayan, for 15 rubles and a bottle of vodka, agrees to organize a class wedding. The conversation between Bochkin and Prisypkin about the upcoming celebration is heard by the worker Zoya Berezkina, who used to be the latter's lover. She's embarrassed. While everyone is discussing the upcoming wedding, Zoya shoots herself.

Wedding. Bayan makes a speech, then plays the piano, everyone drinks and sings. In the ensuing fight, the furnace overturns and a fire breaks out. Everyone died in the fire, but firefighters missed one person.

After 50 years, when digging a trench, a frozen man is found with calluses on his hands. Having voted "yes", they decided to resurrect. It was Prisypkin. The press of the whole world reports the resurrection of the representative of the workers of the past. The professor defrosts, his assistant is Zoya Berezkina (she failed to kill herself 50 years ago). When Prisypkin woke up, a bug, defrosted along with him, crawled from his collar onto the wall. Realizing that he was in 1979, Prisypkin fainted. To make it easier for him to stay in the future, he is given beer to drink. And Prisypkin's romances spread love. The mob is busy capturing a rare animal bed bug to study it.

Prisypkin is observed. He wants to get drunk and asks to be frozen back. The books brought by Zoya shock him: they are all scientific and documentary. In the center of the zoo is the cage in which Prisypkin sits. The director of the zoo reproaches the professor that he incorrectly identified the defrosted Prisypkin as a “homo sapiens” species, and he is a humanoid simulator with an almost human appearance.

In this regard, the bug and Prisypkin were placed in the same cage so that the bug could bite and develop. Brought to the podium, Prisypkin appeals to the citizens with an appeal when they managed to unfreeze them and why he only suffers. He is taken away, and the cage is pulled.

Summary (detailed)

Tambov. The first three pictures take place in 1929, the other six pictures fifty years later. Former worker and party member Ivan Prisypkin was about to get married. For harmony, he changed his name to Pierre Skripkin and began to take lessons in good manners from a new friend from the homeowners Oleg Bayan (former Bochkin). Pierre's fiancee, Elsevira Davidovna, was a hairdresser's daughter. She herself worked as a cashier and a manicurist in a hairdressing salon. The future mother-in-law, Rosalia Pavlovna Renaissance, helped him prepare for the wedding. Together they walked around the square near the stalls, buying everything they needed to start a family life. We bought some kind of toy, a bra, which the groom mistook for a bonnet for twins, etc.

Oleg Bayan promised to arrange an unforgettable "red" wedding for a symbolic reward and a bottle of vodka. Their conversation was heard by Pierre's ex-fiancee - Zoya Berezkina. When she asked to explain what it all means, the future groom replied that he fell in love with another. Zoya cried. The entire working hostel discussed the upcoming wedding, as well as the new name of Prisypkin. Many condemned him. Zoya tried to shoot herself. Bayan makes a speech at the wedding and then plays the piano. Everyone is dancing and having fun. Shafer, having drunk a lot, starts a quarrel after a quarrel. A fight breaks out and then a fire due to an overturned stove. All guests burned out. The fire brigade that arrived was missing one person. It was Prisypkin.

Fifty years later, builders digging a trench found a frozen human body. The Human Resurrection Institute found that this individual may have been a hard worker, as he had calluses on his hands. After a popular vote, it was decided to resurrect him. Zoya Berezkina, who survived a suicide attempt in 1929, was also present at the experiment as an assistant professor. The frozen individual turned out to be none other than Ivan Prisypkin. This discovery became a worldwide sensation. The forthcoming resurrection was written about in many newspapers. When Prisypkin woke up, the bug on his collar revived with him. The transitional period for the exhibit proved to be difficult. At first, when he found out that he was in 1979, he fainted. Then they decided to give him beer to drink to alleviate his condition.

Prisypkin is gradually gaining popularity with the crowd. People enjoy listening to his romances with a guitar, dancing, singing and mumbling poetry. Meanwhile, the director of the zoological fat is trying to catch a bed bug, as it is the rarest species of extinct insect. Prisypkin is under the supervision of doctors all the time. Zoya, at his request, brings him books, but he likes none, since all books are now only of a scientific nature. He dreams of being frozen back. Soon, the "clopus normalis" is placed in a zoo cage as a rare exhibit. The director of the zoo announces that a living human body is required to keep and feed the insect.

Prisypkin is now also in the zoo, as food for a valuable insect. He is placed in a draped cage and presented as a "philistine vulgaris" - an ordinary mammal with an almost human appearance. Showing this exhibit to the audience, the director of the zoo reproachfully notes that the professor mistakenly attributed it to the class of workers "homo sapiens". Now crowds of spectators, foreign correspondents and columns of children come to the zoological garden. At the end of the play, Prisypkin addresses the sightseers with the question of when everyone was thawed and why he is alone in a cage.
