The smallest people. The smallest person in the world, who is he? Video about the smallest people in the world

Junri Balauing, who lives in a remote town in the southern Philippines, is just under two feet tall. He was officially declared the shortest man in the world and listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Junri Balauing, who just turned eighteen, is 23.5 inches (59.93 centimeters) tall and 7 centimeters shorter than the previous world's shortest man, Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 26 inches tall ( about 67 centimeters).
The Guinness World Records team solemnly entered Junri Balauing's data into the book in the remote Philippine town of Sindangan, where Balauing lives.

According to the rules, the champion must be at least 18 years old. The smallest person in the world celebrated his coming of age this Sunday.

Junri Balauing's father said his son, the eldest of four children, stopped growing in his first year. His speech has also stopped developing, and his communication is now limited to short phrases. The Balauing mostly stays at home as it needs help to move from place to place. His condition prevented him from attending school.

While the Guinness World Records entry does not come with a cash prize, Guinness World Records chief Craig Glendye said the team hopes Balauing's case will be brought to the attention of medical professionals who may be able to help him. Local doctors were unable to explain the reasons for his current condition. “The previous record holder received medical attention … He even underwent free surgeries that were done at US government expense,” said Craig Glendy, head of the Guinness Book of Records.

Khagendra Tapa Magar received his title of the lowest man in the world on his eighteenth birthday on October 14, 2010.

Edward Nino Germandez held the title of the world's shortest man for a short period from March to October 2010, between the death of the previous record holder and the eighteenth birthday of Khagendra Thapa Magar.

He Pingping from China received the title of the world's shortest man in January 2007. In 2010, he died of heart disease at the age of 21. He was 74 centimeters (2 feet 5 inches) tall.

He Pingping was famous all over the world. In this photo, he is next to Bao Xingshong, who held the title of the tallest man in the world until September 2009. He was 2 meters and 36 centimeters (7 feet and 9 inches) tall.

He Pingping next to Sultan Kozen of Turkey, the next holder of the title of the tallest man in the world. He is 246.5 centimeters (8 feet 1 inch).

Junri Balauing celebrates his eighteenth birthday with a cake and balloons.

At 67.08 centimeters (26.4 inches), former world's shortest man Khagendra Thapa Magar shows off his record holder medals in Pokhara, west of Kathmandu. He is over seven centimeters taller than Junri Balauing.

The first holder of the title of the shortest person in the world, whose height and age were officially documented by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records - Guy Mohammed from New Delhi, India. His height was only 57 centimeters. Guy Mohammed died at the age of forty in 1997 due to breathing problems caused by tobacco abuse.

Thanks to the development of medicine, as well as taking into account the possibilities of television and the Internet, modern people in Russia know more about dwarfism today than ever before. Of course, there is nothing new in such a pathology - it was mentioned even in ancient Egypt, although there this phenomenon was considered a phenomenon. Advances in modern science have made it clear that many dwarf people have bone problems, such as osteogenesis defects that prevent normal growth for an adult. Others have a lack of hormones that stimulate human growth. And in some cases, scientists still cannot explain the cause of dwarfism.

In total, there are about 200 diseases that can cause the development of this pathology. Many of the dwarf and simply undersized people have serious problems with movement, fragile bones and other "charms" of the body of a small person that do not allow them to live a full life of healthy peers. Below you will learn about 10 people who have ever deservedly claimed the title of the smallest person in the world.

10. Stacy Herald - 28 inches (71.1 cm)

The smallest mother in the world occupies the final line of this list, because her height is 28 inches (in terms of a domestic measure of length, this is about 71 cm). The Kentucky-based Herald suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, which leaves her with brittle bones and underdeveloped lungs. The woman uses a wheelchair to move around.

Stacey got married in 2005. A curious fact - the height of her husband Will is 5 feet and 9 inches (about 1 meter 80 cm). Doctors told the couple that it was dangerous for them to have children, as the fetus could crush Stacy's internal organs. However, the young family decided to take a chance.

Between 2005 and 2009, Stacey Herald gave birth to three children. At the same time, their third child was born using a vertical caesarean section, which is now used quite rarely. Today, a woman struggles to raise her second daughter, who is already much larger than her.

In a 2009 interview, when asked why, given all the risks, abortions were not performed, Stacey said that she listens and respects doctors very much, but does not always consider their opinion to be correct. Therefore, a woman chooses the course of action that seems best to her.

9. Hatija Kojaman - 28 inches (71.1 cm)

As with Stacey Herald before, Hatija Kojaman is only 28 inches tall and previously held the Guinness World Record for "smallest woman". This man lives in the city of Kadirli (Turkey).

Experts believe that the tiny growth of the Turkish woman is due to genetic abnormalities, because she also has back problems and joint dysplasia. Doctors suspect that she inherited all this from both parents. Hatija cannot work - she helps her mother by doing small tasks around the house.

In 2010, talking to reporters, Kojaman told how, as a child, her classmates teased her for her small stature. But now the girl is famous because of it, and thanks to the worldwide support, she considers herself "much higher."

8. Edward Nino Hernandez - 27 inches (68.5 cm)

At 27 inches, Edward Nino Hernandez is the smallest person in Colombia. He was only 15 inches (38 cm) tall at birth and stopped growing after two years.

This Bogotá resident also suffers from cataracts, which impair his vision. In addition, it is difficult for him to write because of short fingers. Hernandez had to stay at the school for a repeat year several times and eventually left when he was 13 years old. The reason for his small stature has never been diagnosed.

Hernandez is a part-time dancer in Bogotá. In a 2010 interview, Edward admitted that he had a close relationship with an eighteen-year-old girl, and he really likes to play checkers and dominoes.

7. Bridget Jordan - 27 inches (68.5 cm)

Bridget Jordan is one of the smallest women on the planet, as well as the world's shortest cheerleader. Born in 1989, Jordan is also a former Guinness World Record holder due to her 27-inch height.

Jordan's short stature is due to the consequences of Mayevsky's osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type 2 (a rare form of congenital dwarfism that affects one in three million people). Although this condition is accompanied by problems with the skeleton and brain, Jordan is still mobile enough to enjoy dancing and cheerleading.

The girl is a student at Kaskaskia College in Illonias, and together with her brother Brad, whose height is 38 inches (about 96.5 cm), they also represent the smallest pair of brothers and sisters in the world.

Jordan is interested in fashion and is thinking about starting his own business designing clothes for little people.

6. Ling Yu Chi - 26.6 inches (67.5 cm)

At only 26.6 inches tall, Ling Yu Chi is another of the smallest people in the world. Born in 1972, Yu Chi has brittle bones and is confined to a wheelchair.

This man lives in Taiwan and suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, which is a factor in stunting bone growth in infants. However, he did not know the cause of his dwarfism until he visited a doctor at the age of 20. Now Ling Yu Chi is a writer and public figure in Taipei.

5. Khagendra Tapa Magar - 26 inches (66 cm)

Another smallest person in the world is Hagendra Tapa Magar, who lives in Nepal, because the growth of this record holder is only 26 inches. The entrepreneur discovered him in the Baglang region of Nepal in 2006, after which the dwarf became part of a dance troupe in Nepal and India. Now it is the reason for the influx of tourists to the region.

According to the attending physician, Magar has the body and mind of a three-year-old child. This person has developmental difficulties, so he entered the local elementary school in 2009 to learn to read and write.

4. Madge Bester - 25.5 inches (64.7 cm)

Born in 1963, Madge Bester, who now lives in Africa, is one of the smallest women. The height of this girl is only 25.5 inches, i.e. she is even smaller than the average one-year-old.

Bester has osteogenesis imperfecta, which requires her to use a wheelchair. In 1998, as a disabled rights campaigner, she met the then shortest man in the world (Lin Yu Chi) at a conference for the disabled in Taiwan. At the meeting, Bester said, “My message to you is to take charge of your life. Forget about the stigma of "disabled" and use your abilities to the fullest.

3. Jyoti Amji - 24.7 inches (62.7 cm)

Jyoti Amji is the smallest woman in the world, she is 24.7 inches tall and weighs less than a stone. Amji, from Nagpur, India, was born in 1993 and suffers from a condition called achondroplasia that stopped her growth shortly after her first birthday.

Amji has fragile bones and needs constant care from his parents and friends. She dreams of becoming an actress in Hollywood, for which she starred in the Bollywood film Pan Supari in 2012. Recently, the girl also entered the Yashwantrao Chawan Open University of Maharashtra. “I would like to become an actress in Hollywood and win an Oscar. The only difference is my height,” Jyoti says.

2. Junri Balawing - 23.6 inches (59.9 cm)

Born in 1993, Filipino teenager Junri Balawing is the second smallest person in the world. He received this title on his eighteenth birthday in 2011, but lost it a year later (the leader of this rating became the successor).

According to official figures, Balaving stopped growing a few months after his birth. This man is 23.6 inches tall and weighs only 11 pounds. The man also has trouble walking due to weak joints, so he needs something to lean on to stand up straight. Balawing's condition has never been diagnosed, but an endocrine or genetic disorder is suspected.

Whatever the man's illness, dwarfism means he needs constant attention from his parents. Despite all the mobility problems, he can still help his family by doing simple housework like feeding chickens.

1. Chandra Bahadur Dangi - 21.5 inches (54.6 cm)

At just 21.5 inches tall and weighing 32 pounds (14.5 kg), Chandra Bahadur Dangi is the smallest adult human ever verified and recorded by Guinness World Records. Born in November 1939, Dangy suffered from primordial dwarfism. The condition caused his height to remain abnormally short, but as with other forms of dwarfism, his limbs and organs remained in proportion to other parts of his body.

Dangi lived in Nepal and had never been examined by a doctor or tried to treat his condition before he applied for the title of "The smallest man on Earth" in 2012. When specialists finally tested him, they found no immediate health problems. Chandra worked as a weaver for the rest of his life and also helped care for buffaloes and cows in his remote mountain village of Reemholy.

Chandra was unusually mobile, given that most of those suffering from his form of dwarfism have serious health problems. He said that for most of his life he did not claim a title in the Guinness book, because his family was illiterate and did not even know that there was such a thing as fixing records.

Meeting the smallest man with the tallest

In 2014, a year before his death, the aforementioned Chandra Bahadur Dangi met by chance and ended up befriending the tallest man at an event in London where they posed for reporters and reached out for an awkward handshake.

The reason for this was the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day, when various records achieved around the world are celebrated. A unique photo was taken in London, where the “giant” Sultan Kösen from Turkey and the “dwarf” Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Nepal were captured against the backdrop of Big Ben.

In addition, she starred in documentaries and took part in reality shows on television. Jyoti was born in 1993. Her short stature is due to achondroplasia. The reason is a mutation in the growth hormone receptor gene; a satisfactory treatment for this hereditary pathology has not yet been found. By the way, the same disease and the star of the series "Game of Thrones" Peter Dinklage.

Madge Bester (South Africa) - 65 cm

Madge was born in 1963 and for a long time was considered the smallest woman in the world (until her record was broken). The reason for her short stature is osteogenesis imperfecta, the disease of the “crystal man”. This disease is characterized by increased bone fragility. Therefore, Madge moves in a wheelchair. The disease of the “crystal man” was inherited from her mother, whose height was 70 cm.

Khagendra Tapa Magar (Nepal) - 67 cm

Khagendra was born in 1992 and was nicknamed Little Buddha in his native village. At birth, he weighed only 600 grams, and now weighs 5.5 kg. People with this pathology rarely live past the age of thirty.

Lin Yu Chi (PRC) - 67.5 cm

Born in 1972 in Taipei (Taiwan). The reason for his short stature is osteogenesis imperfecta. Ling Yu Chi is an active member of the association for "crystal people" - writes articles, participates in events aimed at raising awareness and helping those who suffer from the same ailment. Lin, confined to a wheelchair, learned the name of his disease only at the age of twenty, before that doctors did not make an accurate diagnosis.

Bridgette Jordan (USA) - 68.5 cm

Bridgette is the smallest woman in the US. She was born in 1989 and she also has a brother, Brad, who is also very short (96.5 cm). Born in 1986. Lives in Bogotá and earns a living as a dancer and TV show actor. When he was measured for the Book of Records, he weighed only 10 kg.

And now the highest in the world:

Bao Xishun (PRC) - 2 m 36 cm

Bao Xishun is one of the most famous names on this list. The Mongolian shepherd from the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia in 2005 - 2007 was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest living person (later the Kesen Turk received his title). Bao Xishun was born in 1951 and developed normally until the age of 16, and then suddenly began to grow abnormally. On December 13, 2006, Xishun, thanks to the length of his arms (1.06 m), saved two dolphins, managing to pull foreign bodies out of their stomachs.

Nasir Sumro (Pakistan) - 2 m 39 cm

Nasir is one of the tallest people in Pakistan. It is known that he has to earn a living by hard physical labor. And for another time he was called the tallest unmarried man in the world.

Brahim Takiolah (Morocco) - 2 m 46 cm

Brahim was born in 1987. He grew up, but as he grew older, his growth did not stop and soon reached 2 m 46 cm. This man has the largest feet in the world. His condition is explained by acromegaly. This is a disease associated with dysfunction of the anterior pituitary gland. Accompanied by an increase in the feet, hands, facial part of the skull - forehead, nose, jaw. When Brahim was 18 years old, he grew a full meter in one year. Brahim graduated from the university, and in 2006 he came to Paris for treatment. The tumor that was causing the unstoppable growth was removed, and the hormone levels returned to normal. This allows at least not to grow further. As a result, Brahim settled in Paris, and earns a living by taking pictures with visitors to the amusement park Saint Paul.

Morteza Merzad (Iran) - 2 m 46 cm

This man, suffering from acromegaly, is unique - after all, despite a severe pathology, he stands for his country at the Paralympic Games. He is a seated volleyball player and serves as an outside hitter. He has a gold medal for winning the Paralympics in 2016.

Dharmendra Pratap Singh (India) - 2 m 46 cm

Another very tall man suffering from acromegaly. Among other things, the pituitary tumor in his case also presses on the optic nerve, hence poor vision and frequent headaches. Singh was born in 1983, in a very poor family, and his parents did not have the money to make the boy an expensive operation. Despite all the difficulties of life, this heroic man received a degree in literature. And still I have to earn extra money at some circus performances and take pictures with onlookers.

Sultan Kösen (Turkey) - 2 m 51 cm

Sultan Kösen was recognized as the tallest man alive today. The record was officially recorded on September 17, 2009 in the Guinness Book. Sultan was born in 1982 and both of his parents were of normal height. The boy's pituitary gland was affected by a tumor that caused him to grow so fast that he soon could only walk on crutches and stopped attending school. In 2010, Sultan underwent a course of radiation therapy on the Gamma Knife radiosurgical apparatus, and this helped: by 2012, his growth had finally stopped. Today, Sultan Kösen works at the Magic Circus of Samoa and tours all over the world.

Most recently, we talked about the tallest man on the planet. We will leave a link to that video at the end of the issue, and in this we will talk about the shortest people on Earth.

In third place in our ranking is Junri B A Luing, whose height is 60 centimeters. He was born in 1993 in the Philippines in an ordinary family, where no one was distinguished by any health and growth problems. Already at the age of 2 years, parents began to notice the uncharacteristically small stature and frailty of the child, which as a result turned out to be a consequence of a congenital disease. At the age of 18, Junri received the title of the smallest person on the planet according to the Guinness Book of Records, but very soon his record was broken.

Second place at Gul Moh A mmeda, the men are from India. He was born in 1957 and lived a long enough life for people with such severe growth problems, dying in 1997 at the age of 40. His height at the time of his death was 57 centimeters. The relative poverty of his family, addiction to smoking and, as a result, constant respiratory diseases, in the end, killed this record holder. For many years he managed to hold the Guinness World Record until our next competitor beat him.

First place for a man named C A ndra bach A dur dang And. His height is 54 centimeters and 6 millimeters. A citizen of Nepal is not just the lowest person who ever lived on Earth, but one of the longest-lived among the owners of this disease, because at the time of his death he was 75 years old. He was born in a large family, where some of the children were also short in stature, but only he became the record holder. According to scientists, to grow A ndra stopped around the age of 18, but since he did not experience any special health problems and the desire to become famous, he managed to get into the field of view of the Guinness Book of Records only at the age of 72 years. Alas, in 2015, this man fell ill with pneumonia and died suddenly in his homeland.

And finally, I would like to talk about the shortest woman on the planet. Her name is J O ti Amj And, and her height is 62 centimeters and 8 millimeters. She was born in India and only at the age of 18 became known to the general public thanks to the Guinness Book of Records. At the moment, she is 23 years old and she is quite successfully acting in some films and even managed to play a prominent role in the fourth season of American Horror Story. Like all the participants in this issue, she suffered from achondroplasia from birth - a hereditary disease known to science for a long time, but not treatable.

Our world is full of wonders and anomalies. You can meet them every day when going to work or walking in the park. Unique, unrepeatable nature surrounds us all our lives. However, it is not uncommon to see the unusual among people. Human genes are not yet sufficiently studied, despite the high development of medicine. They are the main reason for the birth of people who are unlike most of us.

Among them, many stand out. This title has been awarded to many over the years. However, the most by far among women was noted by Pauline Masters. He was only 59 centimeters. She can be called the embodiment of the fabulous Thumbelina, just as fragile and sweet.

Pauline was born in 1876 in Holland. At birth, her height was 30.5 centimeters. At nine years old, she weighed only 1.36 kilograms, and at nineteen, a little more than four.

The smallest person in the world, and even more so a girl, could not go unnoticed. In those days, she had one way - to the circus. The audience was delighted with her. Pauline performed with acrobatic numbers, at the end of which there were dances with the audience. She looked like a doll. Tiny dresses, lace and shoes were amazing.

The stage name of the live Thumbelina was Princess Pauline. Under this name, she successfully performed in Germany, Great Britain, France, Belgium. In 1894 she made her debut in New York. After that, she gained thousands of new fans.

Despite universal love and recognition, the smallest person in the world in history, namely Pauline Masters, died in her prime. She was stricken with meningitis and pneumonia. The tiny body could not cope with the disease, and on March 1, 1895, little Princess Pauline died.

The smallest man in the world among men is the living Tapa Magaru. He lives in Nepal. He is 55 centimeters tall and weighs 5.5 kilograms. He was born very tiny, with a weight of 600 grams. According to the stories of the mother, he fit in her palm. When Tapa got stronger and grew a little, he went for walks with his father with pleasure, while fitting in his pocket.

Tapa's parents have repeatedly tried to get into the Guinness Book of Records. But they were refused due to the small age of their son. Having become an adult, the boy was able to receive the long-awaited title, which he is incredibly happy about.

Over the next 10 years, the teenager will have to be measured three more times. In case his height does not change, he will retain his title.

He was far from the first holder of this title. Before him, this title was held by the Indian Gul Mohammed. He was only two centimeters taller. In addition to them, there was also a Chinese He Pingping, Edwardo Nino Hernandezes from Colombia and others. But they were all significantly taller than Tapa Magaru.

The largest and smallest man in the world has always been the object of public scrutiny. Their life and way of life are covered in sufficient detail in the press. What was previously considered a disadvantage, today, thanks to the figures of show business, easily turns into virtues.
