Let's try to imagine the era that preceded the events of the holiday described.

Old Testament Jews eagerly await the appearance of the Messiah. The temple of Solomon was destroyed, the bitter captivity of the Jewish people on the rivers of Babylon ended, the second temple of Zerubbabel was created, in which there is no Icon and the flourishing Rod of Aaron. The people of Israel lost the tablets with the commandments of God. Righteous Simeon languishes in anticipation, who is warned by an Angel that he, Simeon, will not taste death until he sees Christ.

At this time, in a modest Galilean town called Nazareth, there lived a couple - Joachim from the family of the prophet and king David and Anna from the family of the high priest Aaron.

The couple were childless, and childlessness was considered by the Jewish people to be God's punishment for sins, so the saints and righteous Joachim and Anna suffered unfair reproaches from their compatriots.

Having reached old age, they did not lose hope in God’s mercy, they prayed a lot, firmly believing that everything is possible with God. Saints Joachim and Anna made a vow to dedicate to God for service in the temple the child that the Lord would send them.

The prayers were answered. One day, when righteous Anna was praying, she watched a bird’s nest in which a bird was feeding its chicks. And suddenly Anna heard the voice of an Angel, who proclaimed - your prayers have been heard.

The woman rushed to Jerusalem and there, at the “golden” gates of the temple, she met her husband Joachim. The righteous couple embraced and offered fervent prayers of thanksgiving to God.

Anna conceived on the ninth day of December, and on the eighth day of September a daughter was born to Joachim and Anna, as the Angel told Anna, who was named Maria, which means “Lady.”

“The youth is like a board in the hands of an artist: whatever they draw on it - good or bad, holy or sinful, angel or demon - is what remains,” says St. Demetrius of Rostov.

Joachim and Anna saw in the child a priceless gift from God and from the first days of their Daughter’s life they raised Her according to the commandments of the Lord.

When the Blessed Virgin turned three years old, the holy parents decided to fulfill their promise to God. Having gathered relatives and friends, dressing the Most Pure Mary in her best clothes, singing sacred songs, with lighted candles in her hands, they brought her to the Jerusalem Temple.

There the high priest Zechariah met the young woman with many priests.

A staircase of fifteen high steps led to the temple. Baby Mary, it seemed, could not climb these stairs on her own. But as soon as She was placed on the first step, strengthened by the power of God, She quickly overcame the remaining steps and ascended to the top.

Then the high priest, by inspiration from above, led the Most Holy Virgin into the Holy of Holies, where of all the people only once a year the high priest entered with cleansing sacrificial blood. Everyone present in the temple marveled at the extraordinary event.

The righteous Joachim and Anna, having entrusted the Child to the will of the Heavenly Father, returned home.

Church tradition preserves information that during the stay of the Most Pure Virgin in the Jerusalem Temple, She diligently read the Holy Scriptures, did handicrafts, constantly prayed and grew in love for God. As the legend says, during prayer She was fed by Angels with heavenly food, and She distributed her food, which She was given in the temple, to the poor and needy. Mary lived at the temple for about eleven years and grew up pious and devoted to God.

In commemoration of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple of Jerusalem, the Holy Church has established a solemn celebration since ancient times.

Indications of the celebration of the holiday in the first centuries of Christianity are found in the traditions of Palestinian Christians, which say that the holy Queen Helen built a temple in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos.

In the 4th century, Saint Gregory of Nyssa mentioned this holiday. In the 8th century, sermons on the day of the Entry were delivered by Saints Herman and Tarasius, the Patriarchs of Constantinople.

The feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary into the Temple is more than the feast of Her Nativity. This is the day of Her spiritual birth. Under the shadow of the Old Testament Temple, the flower of the New Testament grew - the Virgin Mary.

This holiday symbolizes the beginning of our solemn procession to God, and therefore none of the Orthodox believers on this glorious day should find themselves in the arms of everyday worries. And he must “join this solemn procession, having clothed himself with qualities consistent with the image of the great Licon-head Onago” (St. Philaret). This, first of all, is the meaning of this holiday.

The Introduction (Entrance) into the temple of our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary took place, according to the stories preserved by Tradition, as follows. The parents of the Virgin Mary, righteous Joachim and Anna, praying for resolution of infertility, made a vow, if a child was born, to dedicate him to service.

When the Blessed Virgin was three years old, the holy parents decided to fulfill their promise. Having gathered relatives and friends, dressing the Most Pure Mary in her best clothes, singing sacred songs, with lighted candles in her hands, they brought her to the Jerusalem Temple. There the high priest and many priests met the Virgin Mary. A staircase of fifteen high steps led to the temple. Baby Mary, it seemed, could not climb this ladder herself. But as soon as She was placed on the first step, strengthened by the power of God, She quickly overcame the remaining steps and ascended to the top. Then the high priest, by inspiration from above, led the Most Holy Virgin into the Holy of Holies, where of all people only once a year did the high priest enter with cleansing sacrificial blood. Everyone present in the temple marveled at the extraordinary event.

The righteous Joachim and Anna, having entrusted the Child to the will of the Heavenly Father, returned home. The Most Blessed Mary remained in the room for virgins located at the temple. Around the temple, according to the testimony of the Holy Scriptures (1 Kings 1:28; Luke 2:37) and the historian Josephus, there were many living quarters in which those dedicated to service resided.

The earthly life of the Most Holy Theotokos from infancy to her ascension to heaven is shrouded in deep mystery. Her life in the Jerusalem Temple was also hidden. “If someone asked me,” said Blessed Jerome, “how the Blessed Virgin spent her youth, I would answer: that is known to God Himself and the Archangel Gabriel, Her constant guardian.” But Church tradition preserves information that during the stay of the Most Pure Virgin in the Jerusalem Temple, she was raised in the company of pious virgins, diligently read the Holy Scriptures, did handicrafts, constantly prayed and grew in love for God.

Sermon on the Feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!

Today in the temple of God the Virgin clearly appears and announces Christ to everyone...

The angels saw the entry of the Most Pure One, marveling at how the Virgin entered the Holy of Holies.

Purity and holiness, light and joy – this is the elusive spirit of today’s holiday and service. On the steps of the Old Testament shrine of the Temple of Jerusalem, a three-year-old Yunitsa is placed, the Holy of Holies, large, triumphant and rejoicing. And Her elderly righteous parents, Joachim and Anna, and a choir of young women with lighted candles, “singing, playing and rejoicing,” accompany She who is offered as a gift to God. Embraced by sacred delight, the high priest Zechariah, the elder, the parent of the Forerunners, “blessed and received” the Holy Maiden, and by a special revelation of God introduced Her into the Holy of Holies.

There are few events, but why is this celebration so joyful, so memorable and significant? Why did the holiday become the twelfth? Yes, because, my dears, the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin into the Temple became a necessary link in God’s saving providence for the world.

This event put an end to the centuries-long alienation of man from God and his stay under slavery to sin.

The sanctuary of the Jerusalem Temple, where God lived and where He showed His presence, inaccessible to anyone except the high priest and then once a year, where he entered with sacrificial blood, offering prayer for the sins of the people, is revealed by God's grace to God's chosen Maiden - the Daughter of man. And the Most Holy Virgin is introduced into the Holy of Holies, invisible to the world, carrying within Her a great sacrifice, a new living sacrifice - Christ - God and Man.

The Old Testament temple of God received the seed of a new life - the Virgin Mary, in whom the New, saving Covenant of humanity with God will spiritually vegetate and sprout. The Old Testament temple of God received the sacred ark of the New Testament, the animated temple of the Savior, the valuable palace and the Virgin - the sacred treasure of the glory of God.

With the entry of the God-chosen Virgin into the temple, the time has come when God’s favor returns to people, and they will draw closer to God as to their Heavenly Father, for the Son of God is the Son of the Virgin, and grace preaches reconciliation with God, and the entrance to heaven will be open to all who wish sky.

And with this entry it was possible for the first time to utter the words: “Thine from Thine, brought to Thee.”

God's gift to people - the Blessed Virgin - is the fruit of the prayer of elderly parents, and through Her - Christ is returned by people to God, as a gift to Him from people, as an auspicious, fragrant sacrifice.

And with this entry, in anticipation of great changes in the world, for the first time it was possible to sing words of joy and hope: “Christ is born, glorify; Christ from heaven, come down!”

With the entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the temple, a miracle happened. Heaven united with earth, and eternity entered time, sanctifying it for eternity. “Today God’s favor is transfigured, and the salvation of men is preached.”

So great is this day, so unique and unrepeatable it is - the day of the beginning of the New Covenant with God on earth.

There were only a few years left before the appearance of Christ the Savior in the world, and the temple of God was called upon, amid the greatest holiness, purity and Divine power, to nourish and educate during these years the sensitive, childlike pure soul of the Virgin Mary, filling Her with Divinity and preparing in Her the very Incarnation of God.

Day by day, the Blessed Virgin grew in physical and spiritual strength in the temple of God. The strength of the spirit of the Blessed Virgin was formed, increased and strengthened by angelic conversation and prayer directed towards God, and by labors for the sake of God.

Her bodily strength was supported by heavenly food brought to Her by the Archangel. And the High Priest Zechariah, who could not himself enter the Holy of Holies every day, heard with surprise, bewilderment and horror the conversations of the Virgin with the Archangel in the Sanctuary. And, not finding anything similar in the appearance of Angels to other people, the high priest was strengthened in the thought that the time had come for the fulfillment of universal expectation, and salvation would come from the Blessed One, from the Promised Woman, from the Virgin - God.

And Mary, nourished by God’s grace, having lost in the last years of Her life at the temple her only attachment to the earth - her righteous parents, made a vow to God - to maintain virginity until the end of her life and remain a servant of the Lord, serving Him alone and surrendering in everything and always to His Holy will.

“Behold, the servant of the Lord, wake me according to Your word” (Luke 1:38).

And Her heart, given to God, became a temple not made by hands, a receptacle for God. And soon, very soon after this, Christ - Her Son and the Son of God - will come and establish the legitimacy of this new, not made by hands temple, the foundation of which will be He Himself.

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will punish him, for the temple of God is holy; and this temple is you” (1 Cor. 3:16-17). And with this renewal of the temple of God, not only in Jerusalem will people worship God, but in Spirit and truth they will worship Him in every place of His dominion, where a faithful human heart that loves God is found.

And so all of us, on this great day of this holiday, cannot help but think and realize that the path to Heaven, open to people in those times far removed from us, is still the same, and it begins on the threshold of the man-made temple of God, when a person is baptized as a gift to God and becomes a temple not made by hands, and the Spirit of God dwells in it. And our path through life must pass through the temple in order for us to be educated and grow in it, so that this path ends in the sanctuary of God, in heaven, where Christ Himself, the High Priest of future blessings, has now entered with His sacrificial Blood for us.

My dears, the temple of God has always at all times been an altar to God, sanctifying both sacrifices and those who offer them. Back in Old Testament times, the Lord Himself blessed the temple as His place of residence. “Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool; Where will you build a house for Me, and where is My resting place?” (Isa.66:1).

And the first temple of God - a man-made sanctuary on earth, built by the son of the king and prophet David Solomon in 1033 BC, was created directly by the command of God. “I have consecrated this temple... that My name may abide there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there always,” said the Lord (1 Kings 9:3). And marvelous, and holy, and magnificent was the first temple of the Lord in Jerusalem, and the Ark of the Covenant, given by God to the people through Moses, was in it.

The Temple of God at all times is always eternity; in it lives and abides everything that was from the beginning, from the creation of the world, and that will still be until the very second and glorious coming of the Lord. In the Temple of God, everything is always alive - the past, the present, and the future. And there are no secrets in life that the Temple of God - the Holy Church - does not know.

But why don’t the living know these mysteries, why even those who stay in the temple remain both deaf and blind to them, why are there so few sighted and hearing people?

Why did the first Jerusalem temple perish along with its great shrine - the Ark of the Old Testament? Why did the great shrine of the second Temple of Jerusalem, consecrated by the presence in it of the Ark of the New Testament - the Blessed Virgin Mary - and the appearance in it of the Savior and God - Christ, left us only the Western Wall as a memory of itself? Why “New Israel - Great Russia, - which over the course of nine centuries created the House of God within itself, had to, like Old Testament Israel, endure seventy years of captivity among its own and the abomination of desolation in a holy place - many, many destroyed temples of God and monasteries?

The answer to all our bitter “why?” again, we need to look in the Temple and in the Holy Scriptures, which the Temple keeps. He keeps the shrines, he keeps the truths, but woe to us who live, for these open repositories, these prophecies fulfilled before us, turn out to be for us, because of our negligence, bitterness and unbelief, a secret sealed with seven seals.

This is what the Lord of Hosts said at the time when the first Old Testament temple was just being consecrated and rejoicing in its shrine.

Listen to these words, my dears, they were spoken by the Lord to all mankind as a warning: “If you and your sons turn away from Me and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have given you, and you will go and serve other gods and worship them, then I will destroy Israel from the face of the land that I have given them, and the temple that I have dedicated to my name I will cast away from before me... And about this high temple everyone who passes by will be horrified and say: “Why Has the Lord done this with this land and with this temple?” And they will say: “Because they forsook the Lord their God... and accepted other gods, and worshiped them, and served them, for this the Lord brought all this disaster upon them” (1 Kings 9:6-9).

Those to whom they were addressed did not hear these words. Shall we not hear them when we see them fulfilled?

Departure from God is the cause of all troubles at all times.

The Jewish kings and people retreated from God and worshiped alien gods. The Lord punished Israel with war and, in anticipation of repentance, sent the prophet Jeremiah to the apostates with a sermon of repentance and correction. But they did not listen to the prophet, just as they did not listen to the Lord Himself. And Jerusalem was destroyed, and the Temple of Solomon fell, and the Ark of the Covenant perished. And the seventy-year Babylonian captivity became the lot of sinful Israel.

The second Jerusalem temple, built after the return from the Babylonian captivity, was smaller and not so magnificent, but the prophets Haggai and Zechariah predicted its glory more than the first, for the Ark of the New Testament would grow in it. The fate of this temple and the end of the Old Testament sacrifice were predicted by the prophet Daniel long before this happened. And the last prophecy about the second Temple of Jerusalem came from the lips of the Savior Himself. The Lord Jesus Christ wept on the day of His entry into Jerusalem and, in vain, the near Golgotha, predicted the destruction of the temple: “And they will destroy you, and beat your children within you, and will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visit.” "(Luke 19:44).

He rejected, again rejected the Israel of God and accepted humanity, rejected Christ the Savior, condemning Him to death and asking for Barabbas the murderer. And the last cry, the groan about the blindness of the chosen people, is heard by the world: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to you! how many times have I wanted to gather your children together, as a bird gathers its chicks under its wings, and you did not want to! Behold, your house is left to you empty” (Matthew 23:37–38).

“Behold, your house is left to you empty” - terrible words that happened, because people again did not want to be God.

At the same time, the Jerusalem temple raised She Who is the Greatest Holy of Holies and followers of Christ, but in it those who killed the high priest Zechariah between the temple and the altar, who killed the Forerunner of Christ John, who crucified Christ the Savior.

Don’t we see that man becomes either a co-worker with God or a destroyer of what the Lord creates? Look, my dears, how dangerous we are walking. You can be in the temple, but without God. And God punishes people for disrespecting Himself, for rejecting the temple. God's saving punishments to people last for decades, designed to return the human heart to God. And as a final warning to us, the words of the parable of the vinedressers sound: “I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who bear its fruits” (Matthew 21:43).

Let us be especially attentive, my dears, while we are now creating and restoring a large number of man-made temples, let us not forget the main New Testament temple of God - our heart, called to serve God in Spirit and truth. Let us not forget that we are returning from captivity among foreigners and fellow tribesmen who are fighting against us and our Orthodox faith, sick, crippled, spiritually exhausted. That we have been without God for a long, very long time and now we are just standing on the threshold of the Temple, which will sanctify us, but on one condition: if we want it ourselves.

And I will give you, my dears, the words of the Lord, which should now especially help us understand the critical moment of our present life. “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Turn your hearts to your ways. You sow much and reap little; eat, but not to the point of satiety; drink, but don't get drunk; getting dressed, but not warming up; he who earns wages earns for a leaky wallet. Thus says the Lord of hosts... Go up to the mountain and carry wood, and build a temple; and I will favor him, and I will be glorified, says the Lord. You expect a lot, but little comes out; and whatever you bring home, I will scatter. - For what? Says the Lord of hosts: For my house, which is desolate, while you flee, every one to his own house. Therefore the heaven is closed and does not give you dew, and the earth does not give its produce” (Hag. 1:5-10).

We stand on the threshold of the Temple, and we must enter it, reviving in ourselves the knowledge of God’s law, enter by fulfilling the vows we have already made to God. And let’s not forget that it is not the rulers alone who decide the destinies of countries and peoples, but the responsibility for the life of the world before God lies with everyone, with every living person, no matter how small he may be.

My dears! The mercy of God now gives us time for repentance. The love of God endures the diseases of our unbelief. The Lord is waiting to gather us under His wings. Let us want salvation, let us return to the Temple of God with love and desire for it, and return to God the temple of our heart. And the bounties of God’s mercies, imprisoned by our sins, will be revealed, the sky will be opened.

And the Most Holy Virgin, God’s Chosen Maiden, the Daughter of Man, who first opened heaven to us and became the Mother of suffering and sick humanity, is always ready with Her grace to support, strengthen and lead through life, along the path of salvation, all who resort to Her with faith and love.

We magnify You, Most Holy Virgin, God-chosen Youth, and honor Your entry into the Temple of the Lord. Amen.

Zadostoynik, voice 4th

Like the animate ark of God, let the hand of the wicked touch the skin, but on the lips of the faithful to the Mother of God the voice of the Angel ceaselessly sings, with joy they cry: truly you are above all, O Pure Virgin.

As the living Ark of God, let not the hand of the uninitiated touch it; the lips of the faithful, chanting incessantly the Angel’s appeal to the Mother of God, exclaim in joy: “Truly You are above all, Pure Virgin!”

Prayer for the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Oh, Most Holy Virgin, Queen of Heaven and Earth, before the ages the chosen Bride of God, who in recent times came to the lawful temple to betrothal to the Heavenly Bridegroom! You left Your people and Your father’s house in order to offer Yourself a pure and immaculate sacrifice to God, and You were the first to take a vow of perpetual virginity. Grant us also to keep ourselves in chastity and purity and in the fear of God all the days of our lives, so that we may be temples of the Holy Spirit, especially help everyone, in imitation of Thy, who live in the monasteries and who have betrothed themselves to the service of God in the purity of virginity to lead their lives from youth to bear the good and light yoke of Christ, holyly keeping one’s vows. You, O All-Pure One, spent all the days of Your youth in the temple of the Lord, far from the temptations of this world, in ever-watching prayer and in all mental and physical abstinence, help us to repel all the temptations of the enemy from the flesh, the world and the devil that come upon us from our youth ours, and overcome them with prayer and fasting. You are in the temple of the Lord with the abiding angels, you have been adorned with all the virtues, especially with humility, purity and love, and you have been brought up worthily, so that you will be ready to contain in your flesh the Incontainable Word of God. Grant us, too, possessed by pride, intemperance and laziness, to be clothed in all spiritual perfection, so that each of us, with Your help, may prepare from us the wedding robe of our souls and the oil of good deeds, so that we may appear, without naz and unprepared, to meet our Immortal Bridegroom and Thy Son, Christ. Our Savior and God, but may He receive us with the wise virgins in the abode of paradise, where, with all the saints, grant us to glorify and glorify the all-holy name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and Your merciful intercession always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

ORIGIN OF THE HOLIDAY, ITS MEANING AND IMPORTANCE

The exact date of the establishment of the feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary is unknown. The introduction of the Blessed Virgin into the temple after She was three years old was mentioned in the 1st century by Bishop Euodius of Antioch, in the 4th century by Blessed Jerome, as well as by the saints and Patriarchs Herman and. In the East, the holiday became widespread in the 8th-9th centuries. In the 9th century, George, Metropolitan of Nicomedia, compiled a canon for the holiday (“I will open my mouth”) and a series of stichera, and in the 10th century, Basil Pagariot, Archbishop of Caesarea, compiled a second canon for the holiday (“Song of Victory”). These stichera and canons are still sung today.

Predestined by the Lord by Her miraculous birth to be the dwelling place of the Son of God, the palace of the Incontainable Living God, the Most Holy Virgin from her earliest youth was preserved by Divine Providence in perfect purity, far from all sin and vice.

The Blessed Virgin Mary, filled with reverence for God, grew up in the house of her pious parents in an atmosphere of purity and holiness, tender parental love and care. In fulfillment of the vow given by her parents - to be dedicated to God, at the age of three She was taken to the Jerusalem Temple in order to “be sacredly educated, so that the Lord of all will be the Divine Throne and<...>luminous abode."

As this event is depicted in ancient church tradition, for the celebration of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin, the righteous Joachim and Anna, according to custom, called their relatives to Nazareth, where they lived, collected the faces of the virgins and prepared many candles. Arriving from Nazareth in Jerusalem, they reverently and solemnly walked to the temple of God, like the Old Testament procession with the Ark of the Covenant to the Temple of Solomon (1 Chron., ch. 15). The Blessed Virgin Mary, led into the temple, was preceded by the face of young virgins with lamps. “Around the temple,” writes Blessed Jerome, “in accordance with the 15 psalms of degrees, there were 15 steps. At each of these steps, the priests and Levites, ascending to serve, sang one psalm. The parents placed young Maria on the first of these steps. And when they took off Her traveling clothes and, according to custom, dressed Her in the best and most splendid, the Virgin of the Lord alone, not supported or eased by anyone’s hand, ascended all the steps as if she were at full age.” Everyone was surprised to see how the three-year-old Otrokovitsa quickly, like an adult, ascended all the steps.

The Most Pure Virgin was met by the High Priest Zechariah, the son of Varachia, the parent of the Forerunner, the prophet of God, and by the mysterious inspiration of God, foreseeing the future, he did an unusual and surprising thing for everyone: having blessed the Virgin, He introduced Her, as the “Bride of God the All-Tsar,” into the Holy of Holies, to where the ark of the Covenant was located, where, according to the law, only the high priest was allowed to enter once a year with cleansing sacrificial blood, and where entry was prohibited not only to women and virgins, but also to priests (). Even the Angels, according to the church song, “see the entry of the Most Pure One, marveling at how the Virgin entered the Holy of Holies.”

And throughout the entire service of the feast of the Entry of the Mother of God into the temple, the dominant motives are purity and holiness, joy and light.

The Most Holy Virgin Mary, who by grace achieved the highest purity and holiness, served the great mystery of the Incarnation, becoming the Matter of the “Saints of the Most Holy Word.” “The Chosen One and the Only Pure One,” says the chant, “turned out to be above everything earthly and intelligible.” The Prophet of God, the High Priest Zechariah, once contemplating the beauty of the soul of the Most Pure Virgin and seeing the future, exclaimed with faith: “You are deliverance, You are the joy of all. You are our appeal: through You the Incontainable will be contained for me.”

Since childhood, the Most Holy Virgin contained all the inexhaustible wealth of grace: “Like the house of the essence of grace, in it lie the treasures of God’s ineffable structure (household building).” At the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, only Her parents Joachim and Anna, due to the miraculous circumstances that accompanied this birth, could foresee the great destiny of their Daughter. Her introduction into the temple was, as it were, a manifestation of Her to the world, similar to the appearance of Christ at His Baptism. The introduction into the temple became a silent sermon to the people about the imminent coming of Christ, which showed God’s favor to people, served for them as salvation and the implementation of the entire economy of the Creator in relation to the human race. “Today (on the day of the Entry of the Mother of God into the temple) is an omen (“fore-depiction”) of God’s favor and a preliminary sermon about the salvation of people: the Virgin openly appears in the temple of God and announces Christ to everyone.”

The Most Holy Virgin Mary, by her appearance, announced that the fulfillment of the “look (house-building) of the Creator” is near and “the eternal council of our Eternal God is coming in fulfillment.”

From the time of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the temple, prophecies about our salvation began to come true: “The rays of grace have already shone with the entry into the temple of God of the Pure Virgin,” destined to be the Mother of God and the mediator of joy for the world; “before the age of the named Mother and in the last year of the appearance of the Mother of God.”

David’s prophecy came true on the Pure Virgin () as a pure offering of all humanity to God, who accepted this gift and sacrifice from people: “Even though (wanting to show) the Lord with his tongue (to the people) His salvation, the Unbeautiful (Virgin) is now accepted from man (as a gift) , reconciliation (in) a sign and renewal."

The Most Holy Virgin Mary, being the “Most Holy Temple of our Holy God,” served as the incarnation of the King of all and God, who deified, renewed, and recreated the entire human race by His mercy. Through Her we got rid of the ancient curse, “the former incorruptibility of the community.” “Let the heavens above rejoice today, and let the clouds sprinkle joy over the very (very) glorious majesties of our God,” “as the so-called All-Tsarina has opened to us the Kingdom of Heaven. Rejoice people and have fun."

FEATURES OF THE HOLIDAY SERVICE

At Great Vespers three proverbs are read. In the first proverb () in the image of the Old Testament tabernacle, which during consecration was filled with the glory of the Lord, he contemplates the greatness of the Blessed Virgin Mary - for the Holy Spirit overshadowed the Blessed Virgin, the tabernacle of the incarnation of the Lord.

In the second paremia () he contemplates the prototype of the Blessed Virgin - the ark of the Covenant of the Lord, which, after the consecration of Solomon's Temple, the priests brought into the Holy of Holies under the shade of the Cherubim. In the third proverb (Ezek. 43:27, 44:1–4), the prototype of the God-chosen Maiden is the gate seen by the prophet Ezekiel.

At the blessing of the loaves, at “God is the Lord,” and at the end of Matins, the troparion of the holiday is sung. At Matins there is polyeleos magnification. There are two canons. Katavasia: “Christ is born, glorify” (irmos of the nearest holiday - the Nativity of Christ). At song 9 we don’t sing “The Most Honest Cherub”, but the chorus and irmos are sung.

Chorus: The angels entering the Most Pure One were amazed to see how the Virgin entered the Holy of Holies.

Irmos: Like the animate ark of God, let the hand of the bad (the uninitiated) never touch it. The lips of the faithful to the Mother of God are silent, the voice of the Angel is chanting, and they cry out with joy: truly you are above all, O Pure Virgin.

These same chorus and irmos are the honorific at the Liturgy. Further, the troparions of the first canon, the irmos and the troparia of the second canon are appended with their own special refrains.

At the Liturgy, as usual on the twelve feasts of the Theotokos, there is the prokeimenon, the Apostle, the Gospel and the communion of the holiday (on Sunday - in conjunction with the Sundays). Instead of “Worthy”, the worthy one is sung.

The twelfth feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos has one day of forefeast (November 20) and four days of afterfeast. The holiday is celebrated on November 25/December 8.

The service for giving is combined (as an exception from all twelve feasts) with the service to the holy martyrs and.

From the day of the Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple (November 21/December 4) to December 31 (January 13 of the new style - the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Christ. - Ed.) at matins on Sundays and holidays that have a vigil, polyeleos or great doxology, it is sung catavasia: “Christ is born, glorify” (ordinary, after all the songs).

Prayers for the Feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On December 4, Christians celebrate one of the main Orthodox holidays. Prayers addressed to the Most Holy Theotokos on this day help to find peace, be cleansed of sins and gain the help of the patroness of the entire human race.

The Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos is one of the twelve Orthodox holidays. The celebration falls on the Nativity Fast, and believers visit the temple to ask the Higher Powers for protection and support in overcoming the difficulties of life. All prayers said in church or at home are valid only with sincere faith. It is believed that on this day you can make an oath to the Lord, and he will help in fulfilling it. The power of this word programs you to fulfill your obligations and teaches you to always fulfill what is said and keep track of your promises.

Prayer before the icon of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple

There is no person who would live a life without sins. Wittingly or unwittingly, we all make mistakes. Prayers addressed to the Mother of God help to make amends and learn to live in peace and harmony. She, like us, went through her earthly path, experiencing not only joy, but also hardship, and therefore tirelessly prays for sinful people, giving them peace and protection.

“Most Holy and Great Virgin, chosen one of our Lord, you sacrificed yourself and left the sinful world for the great purpose of serving God. Do not abandon your servants in their prayers for righteousness and sincere faith. Protect and lead through life with your wisdom. May your grace help us find true faith, save us from pride, greed and stupidity. Grant us to gain spiritual perfection and teach our children to live in peace and spiritual purity. Pray to God for the salvation of our sinful souls and illuminate the thorny path with your bright gaze. May the Lord not abandon his children in moments of weakness and difficulty. Amen"

Prayer on the Feast of the Holy Mother of God

“To whom else, if not to You, Heavenly Mother, will I turn my prayers. Hear the aspirations of your servant (name). Comfort me in my sorrow and do not leave me without protection in this sinful world. Protect me from temptations and allow me to atone for voluntary and involuntary sins. Guide me on the path of faith and help me not to deviate from Christian commandments. Give me strength to fight the evil that is coming inside me. Soften my heart and accept sincere repentance. Pray for me to our Almighty Lord, so that he does not leave me without mercy. Amen"

The Greatness of the Blessed Virgin Mary

“Our Great and Most Holy Protectress. We magnify you and pray for your deeds to the glory of the Lord. You left this sinful world and ascended under the eyes of our Savior. She atoned for all sins with her sacrifice and became the protection and support of our souls from great evil. We pray for you, Intercessor. Above all is your true faith. And do not leave us, those who pray and believe. Amen"

Do not forget that true faith, virtue and adherence to Christian traditions will help you find happiness. Prayers cleanse our souls and allow us to bring light and peace into the world. Fasting on this great holiday is another step in the fight against your weaknesses. We wish you well-being and the realization of your deepest hopes, and do not forget to press the buttons and

Akathist to the Entry of the Blessed Virgin Mary into the Temple

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Seeing Thy righteous parents, O Most Holy Virgin, having been fulfilled for three years since Thy birth, they desire to fulfill in deed their promise, which they first uttered in words, that they may bring Thee as a gift to God, for this purpose they called to Nazareth all their relatives from the royal and bishop's family, and the priests many, inviting the face of pure virgins, and accompanying You with burning candles, as Scripture predicted: “Virgins will be brought to the King in Her wake, Her sincere ones will be brought to You, they will be brought in joy and joy, they will be brought into the temple of the Kings.” And so they all joined together and prayed to God for You, hurrying to Him: Alleluia.

Opening the Heavenly Mind, You were pleased with the Mother of God, because you would not appear in poor rags at the temple of the Heavenly King, for this reason you were dressed with much glory and beauty, so that the prophecy of David of Your forefather may be fulfilled on You: “The Queen appears at Your right hand, in robes of gold the garment is full of speckles.” When, as the Bride of God, You were adorned and everything was worthy of Your all-honorable Presentation, Your parent brought You like a three-year-old lamb to Jerusalem, singing to You like this:

Rejoice, clothed in the golden robe of virginity and purity; Rejoice, adorned with all the goodness of heavenly beauty.

Rejoice, Daughter of the Tsar, who possesses all the virgin glory within You; Rejoice, Bride of God, present yourself at the right hand of the Heavenly Bridegroom.

Rejoice, animated by the ark of God, in the midst of the virgin tympanis you arrange your processions; Rejoice, most pure Temple of the Savior, direct your lawful path to the temple.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The power of the Most High Autumn of You and the Holy Spirit came upon You and became Your Leader, when after three days of travel you reached the city of Jerusalem, and like the ark of God you were led to the temple of the Lord, the Virgin Mary, so that the word of the Psalm might be fulfilled, saying: “A procession was seen.” Thine, O God, are the processions of my God the King, who is in the Holy One.” And so, for Your great heavenly purity, You were worthy to be the temple of God, where the Holy Spirit, who willed to live, may make You His Dwelling, a heavenly dwelling, so that another Scripture may be fulfilled on You, saying: “Thou hast sanctified Thy village, O Highest, Holy is Thy temple, Lord, marvelous in righteousness,” for this sake let us sing everything about You: Alleluia.

For three years, the Most Holy Virgin, You were brought to the temple, and Your holy parents, from one country and from another, took You by the hands, His God-given Daughter, meekly and honestly leading You to the temple, saying: “Begin Illustrious virgins, go before the Virgin Mary.” Still, many known relatives and neighbors and the priest followed with joy, holding candles in their hands, and surrounding Thee, like the stars and the bright moon. And all Jerusalem came together, seeing this new arrival with amazement, the Three-year-old Maiden, clothed with such glory and revered with such light, and hurried to You like this:

Rejoice, triflant in body, widest of heavens; Rejoice, perennial in spirit, exceeding the powers above.

Rejoice, Immaculate Lamb, who offered her virginity to God as a pure sacrifice; Rejoice, Undefiled Dove, who surprised the Angels with Her purity.

Rejoice, brought to the Lord with virgin faces; Rejoice, you who were led to the temple with burning lamps.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Having a storm of doubtful thoughts inside, the High Priest Zechariah was dismayed, in vain Your, Most Pure One, will lead you to the temple of the Lord with much glory and to the gates to the east who see the closed beings approaching. When I remember Ezekiel’s ancient prophecy: “This gate will be shut and no one will pass through it, just as the Lord God will pass through it, and it will be closed.” Having been filled with the Holy Spirit and having received revelation from above, may the closed gate be opened to the brought Virgin Mary, cry out to God: Alleluia.

“Hear, O Daughters, and see, and incline Your ear, and forget Your people and Your father’s house, and the King will desire Your kindness.” This is what I said to You, O Most Holy Virgin, Your parents, when You were brought to the temple of the Lord. The priests performing the services, having seen Your coming, came out to meet Your glorious Presentation, and with songs they received You, as the Mother who had to be the Bishop of the Great Heaven Who Has Passed, saying:

Rejoice, transfiguration of God's favor, prophets foretold; Rejoice, preaching of the salvation of men, now revealed to us.

Rejoice, escorted in glory by the Heavenly Angels; Rejoice, welcomed by the priests of God with joy.

Rejoice, forsaken Thy father's house and Thy people; Rejoice, you who sanctified the house of God by Your appearance.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The former temple of God, the Virgin Mother of God, was led to the legitimate temple with much glory, so that the prophecy of Haggai the prophet would be fulfilled: “And I will fill this temple with glory, beyond great will be the glory of this last temple greater than the first, says the Lord Almighty.” Your Mother will bring You to the church entrance, saying: Come, Daughters, to Whom You bestowed upon me. Come, O Irk of consecration, to the blessed Lady. Come, Door of Life, to the Merciful Giver. Come, O Irk of the Word, to the temple of the Lord. Enter into the Church of the Lord, peace and joy, and let me sing to God about You: Alleluia.

Having seen Your mother, the Virgin Mother of God, the priests of God leaving the temple, and the great saint Zechariah, at Your coming meeting, they spoke to him: “Receive, Zechariah, the Undefiled Shade; accept, priest, the Immaculate Ark; accept, prophet, the Censer of immaterial Coal; accept, O righteous one, the Spiritual Censer. Receive, O prophet, my God-given Daughter and bring her into the temple of your Creator, and bring her into the mountain of holiness, in the ready dwelling of God, testing nothing, for for her sake there will be deliverance,” and with her we will cry out to You like this:

Rejoice, who rejoiced the heavenly faces with Your entry; Rejoice, priests of God, who rejoiced at Your appearance.

Rejoice, Heavenly Village, you who sanctified the lawful temple more than the first with grace; Rejoice, earthly heaven, having prepared for yourself the dwelling of Christ with purity.

Rejoice, Bride of God, for Your presence is great and wondrous; Rejoice, O Pure Virgin, for fearful and glorious is Your dwelling in the temple.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The preacher of Your entry into the temple of the Lord, the righteous Zechariah, was greatly surprised when he saw You, the Virgin Mother of God, along the church stairs, having fifteen degrees, a wondrous ascent: having been placed by Your former parents on the first degree, You flowed about Yourself to other degrees quickly, no one supported and ascended to the highest degree, you became strengthened by the invisible power of God; Saint Zechariah, seeing this, was embraced by the Spirit of God and the speech of Your mother: “Blessed is the Fruit of your womb, O woman, glorious is your bringing: for you bring forth the true Mother of life, how can the temple accommodate You?” Having also thanked God, he sang to Him: Alleluia.

Great joy arose for all those coming to the lawful temple, when the great saint Zechariah, filled with the Holy Spirit, received Thee, O Mother of God, before the church gates, holding his hand, and leading Thee into the sanctuary, speaking to Thee like this: “Oh, Undefiled Youth! Oh, Virgin of the Heavenly One! Oh, Beautiful Maiden! Oh, decoration for wives! Oh, fertilizer for my daughters! You are Blessed among women, You are glorified by purity, You are sealed with virginity, You are the resolution of Adam’s vows. Come, the fulfillment of my prophecy. Come, fulfillment of the promises of the Lord. Come, seal of that covenant. Come, the expression of That council. Come, the fulfillment of the Mysteries. Come, Mirror of all prophets. Come, renewal of the promised. Come, Light in the darkness of those who lie. Come, newest and most Divine gift. Enter with joy into the church of Your Lord, now into the valley, the entrance of men, not by many into the mountainous and inaccessible.” With him we too will sing to You:

Rejoice, animated Ladder, who ascended to the temple of the Lord along the level of the high ladder; Rejoice, Door, impenetrable by human thoughts, who entered into the door of the temple.

Rejoice, for through the degree of virtues you have risen to the height of the Heavenly Altar; Rejoice, for on the wings of virginity and purity you have reached the City of the Great King.

Rejoice, reaching the House of God on the top of the mountain; Rejoice, gate that has passed through the prisoner.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Although the Lord is a lover of mankind to save the human race, He chose You as His only Mother and brought You into His holy temple, and there, in solitude and deep silence, far from the temptations of this world, you were brought up in the shrine of the Lord in God’s dwelling. But you, playing and greatly rejoicing, as if in the devil, you walked in the house of the Lord, although you were small in age, three years old, yet you were perfect by grace, as if you were foreknown and chosen from God before the foundation of the world, and there you sang to Him : Alleluia.

The Lord, O God-gracious One, created a new, wondrous and terrible thing for You, when the great saint Zechariah, being beside himself, by the mysterious revelation of God, brought You beyond the law behind the second veil, into the inner tabernacle, called the holy of holies, where not specifically the female sex, but below the priest it is fitting to enter, but only as one single Bishop into the summer; It is fitting for You, as the Animated Ark of God, even before conception, more than any nature full of purity, to stand in the place of the lawful Ark of God, the hidden Jeremiah, so that the temple of the Lord may again be filled with glory. This wonderful entry of Yours is visible, we cry out to You like this:

Rejoice, in the Holy of Holies, as you have ascended to earthly heaven; Rejoice, great holy of holies, as you have presented yourself to the Throne of God.

Rejoice, you astonished the Angels, how gloriously you ascended into the Holy of Holies; Rejoice, thou who has made men glad, for thou hast filled the temple of the Lord with glory.

Rejoice, Most Red Drawing, in which the Most Essential One makes the dwelling of the Holy Trinity; Rejoice, Most Holy Throne, on Him the Divine One is preparing to sit in the flesh.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Strange is Your conception and Nativity, strange is the image of Your growth, strange and glorious, Bride of God, Your introduction into the sanctuary, and your constant presence in prayer, and everything that is Your essence: from the morning, even until the third hour, You stood all day in prayer inside the Sanctuary, therefore, with the other virgins in the vestibule, you practiced handicrafts; from the ninth hour, in the temple in the Holy of Holies, you stood before God in prayer, in the contemplation of God, and in the teaching of the Divine Scriptures, until the Angel of the Lord appeared to nourish You with heavenly food. Marveling at such an equal life with Your angels, we cry out to God, who was so well pleased with you: Alleluia.

Bless you all, the All-Holy Spirit, who dwells inside the temple, O Most Holy Virgin. For this reason, let nothing from earthly defilement touch You, you were nourished by heavenly and incorruptible food, and you distributed the earthly food served to the poor and strange. And so, having received heavenly bread from the Angel all day, you have prospered in wisdom and grace, rejoicing in body and spirit, so that you may immaculately contain the inconceivable Word of God. And the Archangel Gabriel was the persistent guardian of Your virgin purity and often appeared to You with other Angels of God, strengthening You in spiritual struggles, in prayer and fasting, in meekness and humility and kindly conversing with You, revealing the Eternal Council of the Most High about You, so that you would be ready for acceptance of God, this cry to You:

Rejoice, wonderful fulfillment of the ineffable mysteries of God; Rejoice, all-wonderful accomplishment of the Eternal Council of the Most High.

Rejoice, indescribably raised by heavenly bread from the Angel; Rejoice, strengthened beyond words by the grace of God from heaven.

Rejoice, even as the many eyes of the Cherubim are placed in the Holy of Holies; Rejoice, the six-winged Seraphim continually converse with Neyuzhe.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Every angelic nature was amazed at the great beauty of Your virginity, O All-Holy Virgin. You are with the Angels in the Holy of Holies, You Yourself desired to live forever in the purity of the angels and Your undamaged virginity. For this reason, you were the first in the world to take a vow of virginity and betrothed yourself to eternal service to God in the purity of maidenhood, and you were ignorant of Him, so that by the Holy Spirit you would be prepared into a pure and incorruptible village of the Word of God, singing to Him day and night: Alleluia.

The oracles of God's words cannot speak, in which utter the mystery of Thy life in the purity of virginity in the temple, O Theotokos, Thy growing years, for Thou art strengthened day by day in spirit, and Thy life was most mobile and extended: with diligence, for Thou didst multiply prayer, going from strength to strength , Dondezhe The Power of the Most High Autumn Ty. I also grew in You the gifts of the Holy Spirit: when you came to a greater age, you practiced more in prayer than in handicrafts, and you spent entire nights in prayer with the Angels behind the second veil. For this reason, with surprise, we call You this:

Rejoice, Holy of Holies, Most Holy Virgin, who offered Her pure virginity to God as a sacrifice; Rejoice, purest Palato of the Holy Spirit, who raised Herself in the habitation of Christ.

Rejoice, Door of Heaven, in the temple, as if you were in heaven; Rejoice, Goro, imbued with the Spirit, flourishing in the sanctuary with all virtues.

Rejoice, even as the Angels of God deliver their messages faithfully; Rejoice, for all the faithful always praise with gratitude.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The joyful spring of our salvation has risen with all the ends of the glorious earth for the sake of Your Entry into the Temple, O Theotokos. Scripture is mimimoid and the law is impoverished, like the canopy that entered You into the temple of God, the Pure Virgin, the rays of grace arose to all, enlightening the souls and thoughts of all who sit in the darkness of ignorance. For this reason, let heaven and earth rejoice, The intelligent heaven sees the coming, and let the multitude of angels and men cry out: joy and deliverance are brought into the temple to all who cry: Alleluia.

Thou art a wall to the virgins who labor in the purity of virginity in the monasteries, O Virgin Mother of God, having made a vow of virginity to God in the temple, Thou hast marvelously preserved it, and having reached the age of twelve, when other virgins living at the temple were married according to the lawful custom, Thou art revealed The secret of Your promise, for the sake of it, was given to Elder Joseph for the preservation of virginity, indicated by God by the flight of a dove from his staff. And thus, having clothed yourself with the complete goodness of virginity, as the Bride of God, You bestow Your service in purity to all who perform the gifts of Your meek and silent spirit, Your silence, humility and unspeakable purity, so that all who are saved by You will sing to You with thanksgiving:

Rejoice, unceasing in prayers in the temple of the Lord, do not let us fall asleep in sin; Rejoice, abiding in silence in the Holy of Holies, grant us to live in the silence of a more animal life.

Rejoice, ever interlocutor with the Angels in the sanctuary, teach us who are disembodied to listen with the verb; Rejoice, cohabitant with the pure virgins at the temple, help us to live our lives in virginity and purity.

Rejoice, animated Temple of the Living God, create us temples of the Holy Spirit; Rejoice, O Thou who art all-dear to all good deeds, strengthen us in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

All-touching singing from unearthly music is offered to You, Most Holy Virgin, holy Angels, serving Your virginal Presentation and creating joy and heavenly voices, entering into Your service of God, with whom on earth from the songs of men the virgin faces of the Lord sing, psalmically chanting and honoring You, His Mother. With them, grant us with pure minds and undefiled lips to sing about Your honorable Introduction: Alleluia.

The light-receiving light shone for us, O Mother of God, having come to the temple of the Lord, the greatest joy was there shining and burning in prayer in the Holy of Holies, from there you shone with heavenly purity to the whole world, dwelling in sinful darkness, and we too with the luminous virgins, to the temple of the Lord those who spent a bright time with the glory of virginity, we will greet You joyfully, in the light of purity of soul and body, shining, and we will sing the following praises to You:

Rejoice, unquenchable Light, kindled into the sanctuary, escorted by the luminous virgins; Rejoice, never-ending Dawn, who has covered the whole world, who is greeted by the bright Angels in the temple.

Rejoice, Lamp of heavenly glory, Who shone an unflattering light in the temple to all; Rejoice, O Devil of God's grace, who received the bread of words from the hand of an Angel.

Rejoice, Mother of Light, coming to be, enlightening everyone with the light of Your purity; Rejoice, Mother, quiet radiance of Light, comforting everyone with the warmth of Your prayers.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The grace of God is a new and animated ark of existence, Virgin Mother of God, in which, instead of sensual manna and material tablets, the immaterial inexhaustible gifts of God are contained, you were worthily introduced into the Holy of Holies, as if you were to contain the fleshly Beginning Word of God, where the Powers of Heaven serve You, the fear of the Cherubim and The Seraphim, flaming with love, overshadowed Thee with their wings, Thrones and Dominions, Beginnings, Powers and Powers, and the Archangels and Angels fell to Thee, crying out for Thee: Alleluia.

Singing Your most honorable Entry into the Temple of the Lord, we praise all Your wonderfulness in the Holy of Holies with the Angels’ presence and heavenly bread, we worship Your equal-angelic virgin purity, Mother of God, and believe that You came from an earthly house to the house of God, like a pure sacrifice, like a gift consecrated for the betrothal of your virginity to the Heavenly Bridegroom, so that you may prepare yourself worthily for the incorruptible and pure Nativity of Christ in God’s dwelling. Therefore, as a believer, let us say to you:

Rejoice, thou who sanctified the temple of the Lord with Thy most pure feet; Rejoice, you who have washed the dwelling of God from the desecration of sinners.

Rejoice, in the holy temple, as in heaven, you received the worship of the Heavenly Powers; Rejoice, in the Holy of Holies, as in heaven, you presented yourself to the Throne of God.

Rejoice, Beautiful Maiden, who brought peace to the whole world by Your coming from the home of fathers to the temple; Rejoice, new Dove, who first gave hope to the righteous in the underworld by entering the temple.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

The faces of Archangels and Angels from the heavenly heights flocked to see Thy glorious, O Mother of God, into the temple of the Lord, the Introduction, and together with the earthly face of pure virgins, the invisible face of disembodied minds walked with joy, Thee, the Most Pure Virgin, accompanying and, like a vessel chosen by God, by the command of the Lord surrounding, and, as if I served my Lady, even though I did not know the mystery of Your power, seeing You, I was indescribably filled with heavenly purity, and everything that was seen about You, I was horrified and with fear, many hastened to You like this:

Rejoice, overjoyed Virgin, Mother of the Tsareva who had to be; Rejoice, you who are preferred to the Queen, who will live in the temple of the Kings.

Rejoice, chosen and exalted Daughter of God the Father; Rejoice, Mother of God the Son, foretold from the ages.

Rejoice, O Bride of God the All-Holy Spirit, unartificed; Rejoice, most beloved Lady of all creation, visible and invisible.

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Chosen by the Eternal King of the Virgin Mary, the Queen of Angels and men, who sometimes came to the Temple of the Lord in the Holy of Holies, to betroth her virginity to the Heavenly Bridegroom, to be raised in God’s dwelling, we diligently offer worthy worship to You. You, as our powerful Intercessor, free us from all troubles and sorrows, and with love and tenderness we cry out to You:

Rejoice, God-chosen Youth, who opened the doors of heaven to us by entering the temple.

Prayer for the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary into the Temple

“O Most Holy Virgin, Queen of heaven and earth, before the ages the chosen Bride of God, who in recent times came to the lawful temple to betrothal to the heavenly Bridegroom! You left Your people and Your father’s house in order to offer Yourself a pure and immaculate sacrifice to God, and You were the first to take a vow of perpetual virginity. Grant us also to keep ourselves in chastity and purity and in the passion of God all the days of our lives, so that we may be temples of the Holy Spirit, and especially help everyone who, in imitation of Yours, lives in the monasteries and who have betrothed themselves to the service of God, to lead their lives in the purity of virginity and from youth to bear the good and easy yoke of Christ, holyly keeping one’s vows. You, O All-Pure One, spent all the days of Your youth in the temple of the Lord, far from the temptations of this world, in constant vigil in prayer and in all mental and physical abstinence, so help us to repel all the temptations of the enemy from the flesh, the world and the devil that come upon us from our youth, and overcome it through prayer and fasting. You, in the temple of the Lord with the angels abiding, have been adorned with all the virtues, especially with humility, purity and love, and you have been brought up worthily, so that you will be ready to accommodate the incontainable Word of God in your flesh. Grant us, too, possessed by pride, intemperance and laziness, to be clothed in all spiritual perfection, so that each of us, with Your help, may prepare from us the wedding robe of our souls and the oil of good deeds, so that we may appear, without naz and unprepared, to meet our immortal Bridegroom and Thy Son, Christ. , Our Savior and God, but may He receive us with the wise virgins in the abode of paradise, where, with all the saints, grant us to glorify and glorify the all-holy name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and Your merciful intercession always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen."
